Guarantee, Refunds & Replacements (The Dirt, Straight Up)
We stand behind our tubers and cuttings—and we also believe in clear expectations. Here’s how it works:
Health & Virus
- All tubers are healthy on arrival and true to variety.
- We do not guarantee virus-free plants (no one realistically can).
- What we can guarantee: if a plant didn’t look great in our field, it didn’t make it to your order.
- We regularly test for TSWV and TSV using Agdia tests (150 tests in 2023, 100 in 2024, 100 in 2025). All were negative.
- We do not test for every known dahlia virus—because that would require selling tubers at luxury-car prices.
Gall (Crown or Leafy)
- Any plant showing signs of gall is immediately removed and trashed—no exceptions.
- Tools are sanitized between every clump with a bleach solution (yes, we’re serious about this).
- Tubers leave our shop looking disease-free.
- If you notice gall before planting, email us photos right away—we need to see it.
- Once the season is over and tubers are dug from your garden, we can’t guarantee gall-free status. At that point, nature (and soil) takes over.
Visual Issues on Arrival
(Broken necks, blind tubers, visible disease, etc.)
- Contact us within 7 days of delivery and include photos.
- We’re happy to help identify eyes or issues and will refund if appropriate.
- After 7 days, we can’t be responsible for storage, waking methods, or gardening experiments gone sideways.
Failure to Sprout
- If a tuber fails to sprout, notify us by August 1 for a refund.
- We won’t send a replacement tuber (it’s too late in the season), but we will make it right.
Mismarked Varieties
- It’s rare, but it happens—we’re human.
- Notify us by October 1 and include a photo so we can help identify it.
- If confirmed mismarked, you’ll receive a refund.
Cancellations
- Orders may be canceled any time before shipping.
- Customer-initiated cancellations incur a $15USD to cover non-refundable payment processing fees.
- If we cancel your order due to crop failure or availability issues, you pay nothing—that one’s on us.
